In a densely populated country shaped by water, recreational angling remains a major social activity, with more than 1.7 million people fishing annually, including over 200,000 children. Representing more than 700,000 anglers, Sportvisunie formed in 2025 through the merger of six regional organisations—strengthens national advocacy and coordination. By combining large-scale habitat restoration, scientific expertise, and volunteer-driven action, Sportvisunie promotes healthy fish stocks and resilient aquatic ecosystems.
