Help scientist on digitalisation in recreational fisheries – fill in the survey!

As part of the EU-funded research project EveryFish (https://everyfish.eu/), a consortium of European research institutes is currently conducting a survey among anglers in various countries in Europe. The researchers want to better understand how anglers document their catches and what experiences they have with digital applications related to fishing.

Among other things, the EveryFish project is interested in

  • which functions of existing apps are perceived as helpful,
  • which functions are missing so far and
  • how the new EU app RecFishing is assessed.

In addition, the researchers are investigating how anglers feel about passing on catch data to science and authorities and how well known the new EU requirements for mandatory catch reporting of certain marine fish species already are.

The survey takes about 15 minutes and is aimed at both freshwater and marine anglers – regardless of whether digital applications are already being used for catch documentation.

The experiences and assessments of the participants are particularly valuable for the project: The results are directly incorporated into recommendations for the future design of digital monitoring and documentation tools for recreational fisheries in Europe.
