The European Anglers Alliance, representing 16 European nations and over 5 million anglers, held its Sixth General Assembly on 8 and 9 April 2000 in Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands

Resolution on the sale of fish
The European Anglers Alliance states that angling is a form of outdoor recreation in which the positive image is determined by:

- the joy and pleasure people experience in angling;
- the social importance of angling;
- the concern about and the contribution of anglers and their organisations to conservation and improvement of nature and environment.

Sale of fish by anglers detracts from the positive image of angling and should therefore be rejected: anglers do not sale fish. The EAA calls on the member nations to establish regulations directed to their own organisations in order to ban the sale of fish by anglers.
